TRAWL & SEINE NETS IN ACTION
Sea-Gear nets have been used for decades all across the globe, allowing researchers to examine ecosystems, weather patterns, and more.
Easily handled by one person to catch post larvae shrimp, fish eggs, crab larvae and more in nursery grounds. The 2 piece trawl features a large mesh outer body with bar pockets for flotation and weight attachment. A finer mesh net zips onto the main net body and is protected with an outside collar. A heavy-duty canvas collar protects the outer net body.
Easily handled by one person Beam Plankton Trawls are used to target early life history stages of organisms utilizing near shore habitats. The beam plankton trawl features a main body of 1/16 inch mesh wings and a 750 micron mesh clip-on net with a protective cover. The 2 piece trawl features a floating top band and bottom pocket for weight attachment.
Stainless Steel with PVC Runners, available with 1M and 2M Rigid Beam Bars
Designed to tow along the seafloor to capture fish and bottom invertebrates. The runners feature heavy-duty eyes for towing, tickler chain and net attachment. Companion nets are available in mesh opening of 1/8” and ¼” heavy netting and custom lengths.
A purse seine is a large wall of netting deployed around an entire area or school of fish.
The seine has floats along the top line with a lead line threaded through rings along the bottom. Once a school of fish is located, a skiff encircles the school with the net. The lead line is then pulled in, “pursing” the net closed on the bottom, preventing fish from escaping by swimming downward.
Maximum length Purse Seine available from Sea-Gear is 100 ft x 6 feet tall with centrally located cod end sock
