SEA-GEAR Model 9700 MARMAP Samplers are designed for use in quantitative zooplankton sampling. They offer superior design and collect more plankton per unit volume than either the traditional ring net or modern high speed encased plankton sampler. The Bongo Frame was designed by the National Marine Fisheries Service for use in the MARMAP program and is currently in use at various institutions and in environmental concerns throughout the world.

SEA-GEAR Model 9765 Large Bongo Frame consists of two 61cm (24”) I.D. hand-wrapped fiberglass reinforced polyester resin (FPR) bodies. The two bodies are joined by a bronze and stainless steel yoke/axle assembly which features a self-contained towing eye.

The Mesocosm panels are heavily reinforced with nylon webbing and lashed to the upper support ring through equally spaced, high-strength brass grommets. The lower rings are attached at one meter intervals via brass snaps that allow ease of handling and setting. The bottom net terminates in a standard 10 centimeter (4 in.) diameter nylon cuff.

Consists of two 30cm (12") ID polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe bodies joined by a bronze and stainless steel yoke/axle assembly which features the same self contained towing eye incorporated into Model 9765-LB.

SEA-GEAR Mesocosms are large cylindrical enclosures designed for long-term environmental studies. The rugged fabric construction allows free water exchange through porous nylon side panels attached to a conical, nylon mesh bottom net. The units are designed to be deployed vertically within stainless steel support rings to maintain constant volume of the enclosed sample.

The Mesocosms are fabricated on custom order in diameters ranging from 0.5 to 3 meters and lengths of up to 8 meters. The bottom sections are generally furnished with 53 micron netting, although other mesh openings can be supplied. A selection of cod-end bags, filtering buckets or jars is available. We invite inquiries and are happy to quote your specifications on enclosure size, mesh openings, cod-end attachments or other accessories.

ORCID - Ocean Recirculating Coral Incubator Dome

 The octagonal dome pictured was manufactured by SEA-GEAR in conjunction with Terra Sub Aqua to collect fertilized coral eggs during the annual coral spawn in the Florida Keys Marine Sanctuary. The eight removable mesh windows on the ORCID have attached fabric funnels mounted behind them which create a clockwise water flow inside the dome. The arch shape zippered panel allows diver entrance to the unit. The dome is vertically supported through a network of aluminum joints and PVC stanchions. The bottom cuff cradles rocks used to seal the base of the dome against the sand bottom.

Kick Net Model KN-500

The SEA-GEAR Kick Net is designed to meet the requirements of groups performing USEPA Rapid Bioassessment Protocols for benthic invertebrates. It is approximately 1 meter square and 500 micron mesh. It features side pole pockets and a bottom chain pocket. Model KN-500-A, Kick Net Assembly, with Poles & Chain. Model KN-500, Kick Net only.

Larval Purse Seine with Pocket

SEA-GEAR Larval Purse Seines are manufactured from nylon mesh 500 to 1800 microns or 1/16”, 1/8”, 3/16” or 1/4” knotless mesh. The floating seine encircles the schooling fish and then is closed, or pursed. The 1 M diameter x 7 M long pocket contains the catch. A cod end jar; bucket or bag secures the catch. Standard seine size is 3 M x 20 M (10’ x 65’). Pictured seine is 10’ x 100’.

Twin Rings Model 9600


We are pleased to offer a low cost alternate for dual net tows. Our Twin Stainless Rings incorporate a central yoke/swivel assembly. Frames are available in 30, 50, 60, 75, and 100cm. pairs.
